While I was sitting here shirking my parental duties in the name of blog cruising, my lovely son -- the one who likes to push my nerves to the brink -- jazzed up the front of the 'fridge with a lovely red shade of Sanford Sharpie. It doesn't exactly fit my kitchen decor. And those "Magic Erasers" aren't so magical after all. (Although, to give them there due, they DID get the marker off of the counter.)

Any suggestions? Short of a new refridgerator, that it. I guess we could squeeze some art time into the schedule today and let it grace the fridge. Or maybe that's what he thought he was doing?

I don't know if it will work on your fridge. I did get some permanent marker on a whiteboard at one of the schools. I used some of that alcohol hand cleaning gel. It took a few applications, but the teacher never knew I screwed up!!

Just a thought.

It sounds crazy, but you could try writing over the marks made by the permanent marker with a dry erase marker, and then wipe it off with a paper towel. I once accidentally wrote on a plastic container with a sharpie, but then I actually erased it by doing this.

I don't know if it will work on the fridge - my kids haven't pulled that stunt yet. Good luck!

i agree with maryanne--i've erased permanent marker with dry erase marker too... just scribble over it a few times. i did that when my students took a permanent marker to our dry erase white board.

you could try a dab of softscrub with a soft towel.
